Well-child exams and vaccinations

Using Heal, you can schedule comprehensive, well-child care for children from birth to 21 years of age. Childhood is a period of remarkable growth and development and it’s important that your child has scheduled well-child exams on a regular basis to make sure they’re developing and thriving.

Each well-child visit includes a complete physical examination, health screenings, developmental monitoring, and age-appropriate anticipatory guidance provided by a licensed pediatrician or family practitioner.

Your doctor will take the opportunity to answer all of your questions and discuss your child’s health as it relates to their nutrition, level of activity, sleep, education, psychosocial issues, and a multitude of other topics.

In accordance with the guidelines set forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Heal Doctors recommend the following schedule for your child’s wellness exams:

  • 2-7 days of age
  • 2 weeks of age
  • 1 month of age
  • 2 months of age
  • 4 months of age
  • 6 months of age
  • 8 months of age
  • 10 months of age
  • 12 months of age
  • 15 months of age
  • 18 months of age
  • 2 years of age
  • 2 1/2 years of age
  • 3 years of age
  • Annually until 21 years of age

Heal Doctors are licensed pediatricians and family practitioners. Heal Doctors do not have privileges at any medical institution and are unable to provide care while your baby is a patient in the hospital. However, they can meet you and your child at home. Please help your child’s doctor by gathering all of the medical documentation about your hospital stay for you and your newborn prior to discharge.

Heal Doctors require adherence to all AAP recommendations pertaining to the care of a newborn child, including but not limited to newborn Hepatitis B vaccination and intramuscular Vitamin K injection at the time of delivery.

Vaccines are a safe, proven, and effective method of prevention against many life-threatening illnesses and diseases. Vaccine safety and efficacy is closely monitored by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Additionally, the AAP, the Institute of Medicine (IOM), and the CDC all agree that the benefits of vaccines greatly outweigh any and all risks.

All Heal Doctors believe that vaccines are an absolute necessity to ensure the health and well-being of your child. Vaccines provided your immune system a defense education as a child, they will do the same for your child’s immune system.

As a policy, Heal Doctors will only provide care for children whose parents or guardians agree to follow the AAP recommended vaccine schedule or catch up on vaccines according to the CDC recommended schedule.
