Doctor Spotlight: Dr. Sachin Nagrani

September 7, 2017

“Home visits offer convenience and comfort for patients, provide care for the entire family, and foster a more balanced relationship between doctors and patients.” – Dr. Sachin Nagrani, a Family Practitioner seeing Heal patients in Washington, DC.

Dr. Nagrani is helping us lead the charge to bring on-demand primary care to patients all over our nation’s capital, and we couldn’t happier to have him be a part of the Heal family. Dr. Nagrani knows how rewarding house calls are for both patients and doctors alike, and he’s always ready to help his patients conquer any ailments or injuries that may be plaguing them. Not all superheroes wear capes, but some may show up on your doorstep in a white coat!

Without further ado, the doctor will see you now. Read on to hear directly from Dr. Nagrani.

What is your favorite part about working with Heal?

I am truly enjoying the ability to see people in their homes. One of my favorite things about [house calls] has been meeting family members and friendly pets (after we complete our visit, of course).

What did you do before joining the Heal team, and what prompted you to make the switch to Heal?

Most recently, I was working in an urgent care clinic in Washington, D.C. The switch to Heal has been a perfect move toward being able to spend enough time with patients in a more pleasant setting for both of us.

Where did you complete your studies?

I went to the University of Virginia for my undergraduate degree, the American University of the Caribbean for medical school, and the Virginia Commonwealth University Shenandoah Program for residency in Family Medicine.

What do you feel are the benefits of house calls versus the traditional modes of care delivery?

[House calls] offer convenience and comfort for patients, provide care for the entire family, and foster a more balanced relationship between doctors and patients.

What is your most memorable Heal moment or patient?

My most memorable Heal moment was right after completing a visit, when a toddler brought her toys into the dining area and handed me one as an invitation to join her in play.

You do a great service to your community working with Heal, but how do you get involved in the community outside of work?

I live in a very tight-knit neighborhood in the Capitol Hill neighborhood; we often do things together to benefit the community, such as our upcoming annual fundraiser for the local elementary school.

What is a random fun fact about you that not many people know?

I’ve climbed several fairly tall mountains, including Mt. Rainier and Kilimanjaro.

How do you see the future of medicine evolving with technology?

Technology has already changed transportation, hospitality, retail, and other industries in dramatic ways. Healthcare will inevitably change as well, and Heal can certainly provide a better user experience for patients than the traditional system has been able to deliver.

Is there anything else you’d like us to know?

Yes! Washington, DC is my hometown and a city with unique history and culture that is amazing to experience. I’d encourage everyone to visit at some point, and while I hope you won’t need medical care during your visit, Heal is here if you do.

To our patients in Washington, DC: Has Dr. Nagrani paid you a visit yet? We’d love to hear about it!
